ABOUT THE CANDIDATES

Vote Menefee for County Attorney in the 2024 Harris County Democratic Primary!

Re-elect Menefee.png

The Case for

Christian Menefee

  • Christian is one of the strongest up and coming elected leaders in the State of Texas. He is the youngest Harris County attorney in history and the first Black Harris County attorney ever elected.

  • He has stood up to Greg Abbott, Dan Patrick, and Ken Paxton when they have tried to deny Harris County its right to vote and our right to determine our own future here at home.

  • He's taken on concrete batch plants, pursued litigation against Union Pacific for its misdeeds in Kashmere Gardens.

  • He was the first Texas County Attorney to oppose Indicted Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton's absurdly cruel directive to investigate families with trans kids for child abuse.

Vote Teare for District Attorney in the 2024 Harris County Democratic Primary!

Vote Teare.png

The Case for

Sean Teare

  • Sean is an experienced former prosecutor who knows how to fix the massive mismanagement in the DA’s office. He has the solution to clear out the backlog in our jail while keeping us safe.

  • Sean supports misdemeanor cash bail reform so that who we hold in jail isn’t dependent on who has the money to get out. He believes you should never sit in jail just because you are poor.

  • Sean will crack down on gun violence and commit to the safety policies of major leaders in the gun safety space.

  • Our current DA was admonished by the Democratic Party for being out of line with Democratic values, weaponizing her office with a legal double standard, and siding with Republicans in rhetoric and endorsement. She endorsed a Republican over a Democrat, Richard Cantu in the At Large Houston City Council race in 2023, and has fought with almost every Democratic elected in Harris County.

Vote Allison Mathis for Judge of the 338th Criminal Court in the 2024 Harris County Democratic Primary!

Vote Mathis.png

The Case for

 Allison Mathis

  • Allison is a smart, fair-minded Houston native who has served as a public defender overseas, locally, and on tribal lands in Washington for the Swinomish Indian Tribal Reservation.

  • Allison has a working class background and put herself through law school.

  • She supports bail reform and will follow the law by making sure everyone in her court deserves a fair shot.

  • The current Judge is an incumbent who has made numerous major mistakes on the bench. She refused to release a dying man who had met bail conditions for almost two years. He went to jail, was transferred to the hospital by the Sheriff, and died a week later.

Vote Gemayel Haynes for Judge of the 486th Criminal Court in the 2024 Harris County Democratic Primary!

Vote Haynes.png

The Case for

Gemayel Haynes

  • Gemayel Haynes grew up in a labor household in New Orleans. He is a smart lawyer with excellent local degrees who has been both a prosecutor and a public defender.

  • Gemayel had to rebuild his life with his family after Hurricane Katrina. He brings the same resilience that helped him rebuild with him to court each and every day.

  • As a former prosecutor who saw firsthand the nature of the current DA’s office, he knows how to handle the relationship between the DA and the bench so that people are safe and get justice.

  • Gemayel’s opponents include the chief of staff for the scandal-ridden DA, and the spouse of a judge who has taken a terrible approach to crime.
